Meet K9 Officer KYE R.I.P.

Meet K9 Officer KYE
R.I.P.

K9 Officer Kye was a 3 year old German Shepherd who served with the Oklahoma City Police Department for about two years.  During a chase, Kye was stabbed and Sargent Ryan Stark fatally shot the man after trying to separate him from the dog.  Over one thousand people attended his funeral which he was given a full police funeral service including a 21 gun salute, flag draped coffin, all the proceedings this hero deserved.  May he rest in peace.

Meet RAZ....Razzamatz!

Meet RAZ!

Raz nearly died as a five week old baby kitty, but her human momma nursed her back to health and since then, Raz has owned the house, including scooting under the covers and resting her head on a pillow!

Just look at all that gorgeous coloring.  I'm going to enjoy painting this fur baby!

Meet ARGO!

MEET "ARGO"

Argo was a K9 Officer partnered with CPL Jason Gleason of the Panama City Police Department.  Argo had 4 national certificates and helped seize about $25 in illegal narcotics.  On August 24th, 2014, Argo was struck by lightening.  He was found by the daughter of the officer.

May Argo rest in peace.  You are a hero.  I promise to do the best possible portrait I can of you!

Meet "Grady"...my first portrait of a Bassett Hound!

Meet "Grady"
R.I.P.

"Grady" was a cute little male Basset Hound who will be my next oil portrait.  Was this dog cute or what?  When I opened the email I simply blurted out, "AWWW".  (You are too, aren't you?)

He was such a cutie and I will do my best to portray his face as the owners remember him.  The dog's male owner is gifting this as a Christmas gift to his wife and daughter.  Just imagine, opening it up on Christmas morning and I'll already have a website page dedicated with all of Grady's information and collage of the creation, and his final painting.

Now that's a THOUGHTFUL gift.

And of course, I'll be posting as time goes on.  For now, I'm still up to my elbows in boxes, still discovering more ways to promote, and still packing for the move.

I gave Grady's owner plenty of information of what I need from him, and pricing, etc.  Now he needs to make up his mind.  And as normal, I start the portrait as soon as I get half down.

Seeing Grady's gorgeous face today though, made it all worthwhile, he was such a cutie!

More ideas for promotions...

I always believe you can learn from everyone, and when I saw this lady's
promotional ways to see notecards of her work,
I knew I just had to do something similar.

It's calm looking, very easy on the eyes...makes you want to buy it!
And that is the point of promotion is to make it so alluring, a purchase is made.

Yeah, I like this idea.  Won't copy it, because I respect the artist, but it did give me
incentive and inspiration.  Normally I wouldn't think beige for a background would be
so complimentary, but I do like it although, I might pick a different color anyway.
Regardless, she's inspired me to try to make prints of future works and also to sell them as notecards.

Thank you Kari McCarthy!

Her work can be found at different galleries on the island of Maui, Hawaii.
