I got my notice regarding
The National Art Exhibition 2014!

My paining "I Got An Itch" was NOT selected for inclusion, however, the Visual Art Center will host a "Salon des Refués for works that were not selected for the national show.  The first Salon des Refusés was held in 1863 by the group of Impressionists in paris whose work was rejected from the Paris Salon.  Included in this show were the works of Monet, Manet, and Whistler, who then became world famous.  The show will run from March 10th through April 4th.

Rejection is part of being an artist.  It's nice though to know though that you're in the company of master artists who also went through it!

I'm already onto my next painting and a 30 day challenge to paint 30 paintings in 30 days.

NEVER GIVE UP!

I love doing portraits!

This was painted in Pastels on Canson paper in a very loose style.

19 1/2" high by 24" wide.

$100 (shipping not included)

***Just a quick note***

I am amazed at my stats (now that I've figured out how to view them).  Today's post of the above portrait was the one most seen since I began blogging my artwork.  In the few years I've been posting, most of the viewers are from the United States of course, but I have had people from Germany, Finland and even Russia check out my blog...which I find absolutely amazing.  I'm so touched!
Please feel free to leave comments, you must have a gmail account to do so.  If not feel free to leave me an email while on my dailypaintworks.com profile page.

My sincerest thanks!

Years ago I did do watercolor!

Years ago, I used to do watercolors and this was a step-by-step demo I did one day.

I felt I overdid it.  Some parts of it, I like, for example the process, but the final feather
I felt was overdone.  140 lb. wt. Arches, cold pressed paper.

It is 7" high and 10" wide.

You may love it for $35, including shipping.

It's unsigned, if you want it signed, just let me know.  If not, it will be shipped as is in a small tube.

The holidays are upon us, so posts are fewer, but...

I have two pieces of artwork in the Visual Arts Center of Punta Gorda, Florida.

The show is called "Greatest Hits" and the only way you could get in the show is if you've won an award in the past.  What a great idea!  I put in two pieces.

One is a photograph of a flamingo, which is in the center of this collage of artwork.

(I had won a first place award in photography for this piece about two years ago.)

And the second piece entered is an acrylic painting of a car, which I titled, "Tail Fin" because that is what it is, a tail fin of a car!  I have it for sale for $75, framed.  It is 4" X 6".  It got a first place merit award in a show called "Mini and Maxi".  Pieces either had to be under 8" X 10", or over 24" X 30".  Great name for a show!

I also on Saturday am putting two portrait paintings in an art show in the Venice Art Center, in Venice, Florida.

It may be the season, but I'm painting and I'm displaying!

I'm also working on an oil painting of a bird which is nearly done.  Also I am working on three small acrylic paintings one is a trio of glass vases, the second one is of a pile of art supplies, and the third one is a unopened umbrella.  Quite a variety of subjects!
